Memo to America: THERE ARE TOO MANY ASSHOLES WITH TOO MANY GUNS.

That’s it. That’s the problem. Unless you have a solution that addresses the number of guns or the number of assholes or both, I don’t want to hear from you. Don’t want your thoughts, don’t want your prayers, don’t want your moments of silence. Fewer assholes with fewer guns.

You know what I really don’t need instead of fewer assholes with fewer guns? Arguments on Twitter supported by made-up facts gleaned from elsewhere on Twitter. Like “he got his guns illegally”. May be true. May not be true. But I guarantee you not a single person citing that fact got it from an official, reliable source, because that’s not how arguing on the Internet works.

Remember bump stocks? They’re not even guns. They’re a gun accessory that exists for the sole purpose of making a legal gun act like an illegal gun. Most people hadn’t heard of them, including (allegedly) most of the people in Congress (a fact I believe as much as “I can’t comment on that because I haven’t read it”). Then the Vegas shooter used them, and all the pro-gun people were like “Yeah, we can do something about bump stocks because they’re not guns”

Then all the gun nuts bought all the bump stocks because the gummint was fixin’ ta take them away. And then they didn’t do shit about bump stocks. They’re still legal, presumably so manufacturers of bump stocks can build up inventory for the next bump-stock-based mass murder and sell them all again.

You have two options. You can continue to live in the Land of Gun Murder and cross your fingers and hope you’re not at the next church service or music festival or whatever to get targeted. Or you can stop voting for assholes with coffers full of NRA money. If you live in Virginia, you can start today by adding this to the incredibly long list of reasons to send Ed Gillespie to the unemployment line in a landslide.

Oh, and stop listening to people like the pastor for the next church over, who, on MSNBC, eventually got around to blaming the murder of, among others, the daughter of his friend pastor and eight members of one single family on “taking God out of the schools”. You’re why the NRA has gone further and further into the insane culture and race war business. Because it’s increasingly difficult for anyone with half a fucking brain to even act like the problem isn’t anything more than too many assholes with too many guns.
